SCAVANGER HUNT WEB APP

Scavenger hunt is a web platform for a QR reading based quiz game. Through any mobile device camera it can scan different QR codes that start different quizzes. For any scanned QR the web platform serves a set of question and possible answers (behaving like radio buttons). If the answer given by user is correct the platform serves a badge with a hint of the position of next QR to scan.

Scavenger Hunt is a web application based on the Flask framework and an SQLite database, featuring a frontend for player users and a backend for managing the application’s content. The platform facilitates the organization of treasure hunt experiences consisting of 10 puzzles to solve. Each puzzle is activated during the journey through QR codes applied to physical supports. Solving each puzzle results in the acquisition of a trophy, and collecting all trophies leads to victory in the treasure hunt.

At the beginning of the journey, users check in to the treasure hunt and create an account with a name (including fictitious names). By scanning the various QR codes and solving the puzzles, users collect digital “items.” Once all items are collected, they win the competition.

The platform’s backend allows operators to independently modify each puzzle, thereby creating different treasure hunt experiences. Through the administration panel, game analytics are also displayed. Specifically, it provides insights into the number of players, the playtime of each player, the quantity of puzzles solved, and whether a specific player has collected all the clues.

Scavenger hunt has been developed as a game to explore archeological and natural areas and to learn interesting facts about them. These sites have been previously equipped with multiples QR reading stations, placed on the areas hotspots.
